59 Different Leatherman for $1,700 + $10 ship
on: February 11, 2017, 09:49:25 PM
Instant way to start a Leatherman collection: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huge-Leatherman-Multitool-Knife-Collection-Lot-of-59-Wave-Sheath-Signal-Titanium-/182452059210

I would say half of the lot are of decent values, others are filler stuffs (those Crater knives, Wingman, Sidekick...). Remember to pay with your credit card to get some cash back  :D

As always, not my listing.

Wow.
I can understand collecting things - you start with one and before you know it you have 20 - but buying someone else's collection seems a bit weird to me. Like buying all their underpants or something. By which I mean collections are personal things.

Are you saying you're collecting second hand underpants, but only if they are being sold separately because there's no fun in buying them all at once?

Eek. No. (But apparently there are dispensing machines in Japan that sell used knickers. Strange planet we live on.) But no, my point - which I am sure a collector such as yourself would agree with - is that collections grow piece by piece and reflect the personality of the person assembling the collection. No two collections are the same.
Buying a tonne of XYZs from someone for a lot of money may make sense to some people, but not to me (especially in this case as I am 1. Skint and 2. am totally indifferent to Leatherman...)

I agree. The way a collection grows always makes some sense, at least to the collector  :D

But there can be reasons for buying a complete collection, one of which is that the collection that is for sale may contain one or more rare items that are hard to find. Maybe the person who buys such a collection takes out the items he/she wants and resells the rest, maybe even in such a way that the returns of the reselling can pay for the items that were kept :)
