This PST was listed as a BOND.  HAS NO MARKS, only a finger print on the blade that is not mine.   And at a bargain too!  :hatsoff:
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Another one that's great ! After the PST, the mini is the second usefull tool from Leatherman, for me. Before PST II, which I like very much, but I don't need cissors for everyday use. On the other hand, I always need a well sharpened blade, file, screwdriver, and pliers :)

I LOVE thoses old school LM  :woohoo:

They pair best with a small SAK, that way you can carry most things you need in a very small footprint

I also made some Charge knives that compliment pretty much any MT I want to carry :tu:

Charge Knife ? Does it mean you splitted a charge in two by removing plier ?

I'm not familiar with Swiss tools, does this one offer some good and usefull tools ? I think it's Victorinox. I just have one swiss tool, which come from my father (an old one, not in very good condition, but... it was one of my father's knife :) ).

Yes, the Charge Knife is half a Charge after I removed the handles from the plier head  It has a PE vlade, the diamond file, scissors and a bit driver :tu:

I carry a Victorinox Executive daily and have for quite a number of years but I do occasionally carry a Victorinox Minichamp as well :tu: I do keep close a modded one as well that I call a Master Ranger and it is a Ranger with magnifier and inline Phillips driver  the scissors of a SAK are better than ones from most MT manufacturers is the main reason I carry one as well

It's a very good idea ! I have to do that ! :D

I just need to found a first original Titanium charge for keeping as collection, then a second one to make a charge knife like you did  :ahhh

Great project ! Thank you for this idea :tu:

I often see some swiss tools for sale, some looks just like two pieces of red plastic and some tiny metal tools. I know I'm wrong, but I never had one in my hands, I think

I'm going to buy one and check by myself :D

Nonaute, If you are talking about SAKs, I've always had the same impression of plastic and little tools. That being said, you might be reconciled with them if you start looking at the Alox versions  ;) I've avoided buying one for now to not fall in the rabbit hole. Cause Poncho is right about those Vic scissors and a mix and match with a LM seems like a good way to go.

For myself, I can't see myself without some kind of real pliers and in my world the old style LM are better than the modern MTs : thiner, more precise, more discreet for urban use.  I wish I would have known about leatherman back in my youth. I would have bought one (or two :D) of each model (pst, pst2, flair, mini, sideclip, maybe a supertool), and then been happy for the rest of my life.

The Bond gets close, the Spirit is well, Swiss quality, and the Wave is an impressive and fun piece of engineering. They just don't have that perfection of the Oldies.

Good luck!

They are not really for heavy duty work, but more for the small tasks of daily life. If you find a model that suits you it can become a trusted companion. The scissors are superb, and things like the saw and the metal file may surprise you with what they can do (if you were to pick one of the larger models that has such things; they are less pocketable, though).

As Frenchephaistos says, the “Alox” models which have textured aluminium sides are more durable and slightly larger, and have some more robust tools. The Pioneer is a great place to start with these, or Pioneer X if you want the scissors. Both have a really great awl. Farmer or Farmer X add the saw.

We both know that we're on the same line regarding the old LM tools ;)

I'm going to check Alox version of the swiss MT, don't even know the price of such a tool :D

For the bold part, that's EXACTLY what I'm doing ;)

Except for the PST's... for them, I already fell in the rabbit hole

Thanks for your advices  :hatsoff:

I understand. As I always have a MT attached to my belt, and a Tread at my wrist, I don't know if I really need an other tool for my everyday needs.

But, well, I'm going to manage to find one if I can, and then, I'll know ;)

Thanks to you  :hatsoff:
