Kind of a happy man tonight
on: March 12, 2017, 06:32:52 AM
One more step closer to world domination tonight! Errr sorry, I mean, one more goal acquired.

I've been on the lookout for the least year or two for one specific LM knife, but they seem to be about nonexistent in the secondary markets. Ebay hasn't had one, no luck posting in the "Tools Wanted" board here, I was starting to wonder if the production run was so small as to make it kind of a white whale. But now tonight, just poking around in a little secondhand store here on 82nd Avenue-- if you're from the Portland area, the one with a bunch of STUFF-- and what's that, an e33 in the case. It was tucked in between a few Schrades and Gerbers and other assorted $10 knives. Asked to see it and, lo and behold, e33T! $20? Sold! A little gunky, dull as a spoon, but she's shaping up nicely. Opens with a nice little snick, nice and tight, backspring has a good snap and the philips and slotted are solid.

I now have all the major variants that interest me-- e33L, e33B, e33T, e55, e55B, K501, K502, and Klamath. I wonder just how long this satiated feeling is going to last... maybe all the way through the weekend?

Here she is, not perfect, not a safe queen, but she'll do.

You got a Klamath? Where is the Steens, man!?  >:D I always want to have my paw on one of those Expanse series. So far, either I forgot about eBay listings, or those listings ended way out of my budget.

Nice find, bud!

You don't need that much luck (particularly for an A100), just a full wallet (and willingness to empty it).  The LM pruners do come up from time to time on US ebay, and there are usually several A100s available at any time.

Yeeeahh, I'm not quite ready to drop that much on an A100-- correction, I'm not quite ready to try to explain to my wife why I'd drop that much on a tool. I'm content to keep stalking pawnshops and estate sales and waiting for the moons to align. There's a thrill for me in getting something that way.

Thanks for the pic  Cool collection of LM knives :tu: :like: :like:

Thank you
