Old LM articles in Design News.
on: October 10, 2008, 02:05:51 AM
Doing a google search, I found this article from 2001 in Design News, which gives some very interesting notes on the design process of the Juice series, and also the Crunch, Wave, and Micra: Pocket Tool Gets a Makover I think the pieces on the Wave and Crunch are pretty cool.

The next two aren't just on LM, so search the page for "Leatherman" if you're interested...

For those who are interested in manufacture/design, this article has a little bit on the PST and related tools:
Reusing Design Reaps Benefits

Also on the manufacturing side, this article talks about the fasteners on the Micra: Engineering News

Neat info.  I sometimes take for granted the ammount of design and engineering that go into these little buggers...and I'm a mechanical engineer!  I saw a leatherman factory tour video once, and its really impressive how steamlined they have their production lines.  I wonder if the mechanics use a charge or surge to fix the machinery when it break!! :D

I'd grab whatever was on the line I was working on!

Then slip it in my pocket and take it home.
