Updated Leatherman Signal in Tan and BO
on: April 11, 2017, 12:37:07 PM
G'Day,

A mate sent me a link to an updated version of the Signal. I cannot find any additional info other than what is in the video.

BO tools and a coyote body, and it looks very cool. Gone are the yellow bits, kindly made black at the factory

Cheers,

Pete

Its starting to look like LMs beef with TTC was about the modding and not just a misunderstanding about using the name.

The Signal looks great thats for sure.  I'm wondering what other tools LM plans on coating?

They saw how well TTC were doing and decided to cut them out and get the money for themselves. Which I can understand, especially if they were getting the modified tools back in warranty and having to explain to peoplethat those tools were not under warranty :o It was probably losing them business both ways :ahhh I just hope the QC starts improving again :tu:

I don't see a coyote Signal on the LM website. The description on the video says that he found it in store at Cabelas. That must be the only place its available, since its not referenced on their website either.

At any rate - this is a huge improvement IMO. Tactical/tacti-cool is all the rage these days, so any company would be wise to offer a coyote brown/flat dark earth version of everything they make. Anything stainless steel gets lost in the shuffle a bit, and could definitely be seen as "old fashioned" since most of the 20's-mid 30's crowd probably has memories of their dads and grandpas using a polished or brushed PST, Supertool, or Mr Pinchy. It's smart marketing really. Aim your products at the biggest demographic

I'm now wondering if this opens other tools to colors from different stores.  There was a Red or Orange Wave and I was thinking how cool a black and tan Wave would be.

Eish, that will not be good for us international peoples. I would love to get my hands on one of these. I don't see it on the Cabela's website either at the moment.

I was wrong. It doesn't say anything about it being exclusive!

If I remember correctly LM stated back when they announced 'steel' version of the Signal the BO version should be around the corner.

That's probably what it is.

I like it, the finish, color and bad-a$s appearance. I'd like to see MUT now in the similar finish ;)

I think a full BO version will look very good.

Agree on the MUT, but with black plastic bits and the tan skeleton!!!

I almost grabbed it instead of the Rebar, but $100 was too high for me.

That is high, I wonder if the price will drop. What is the general trend with Cabellas versions?
I had a look at their website, the shipping is min $20 or 25% of the total price...

I have not paid any attention to any trends. I doubt Cabela's will drop their price.

Well, I had a look at their website again, no international shipping.

If us down-under want need them, we will have to get some help from a US inmate.

I am hoping the price will drop a few $$$ or the Oz $ will improve a bit.

Better start wishing for an increase in the export prices of iron ore and coal then, coupled with a drop in the value of the U$

Who knows, maybe we can get back to currency parity (and wasn't it nice buying stuff from the US back then ?  )    :pok:

I got a coyote tan Style CS at Cabelas a few weeks back. I agree that color must be exclusive to them.

That green one is nice looking too Aloha. Where did it come from if you don't mind?

One thing surprised me a bit, according to leatherman.com is the rebar actually has a longer blade at 2.9" vs 2.73" on the signal. That seems strange as on the rebar the blade has to share with the pliers.

I believe the blade runs down the side of the pliers when it is folded so it does not interfere.

Yeah, looks like the blade and file sort of sandwich the pliars, same with serrated blade and saw on the other side.
Not really sure why the signal intrigues me, seems for the same or less you get more with either the wave or rebar ...
