Swiss Army Knights Chip!
on: April 21, 2017, 04:17:49 PM
In case you missed me mentioning it in another thread, the Official Swiss Army Chips are now available!

Show your pride at being a true Swiss Army Knight and Keeper of SAKWiki with this limited edition Swiss Army Knights Chip!  Featuring the Swiss Army Knight Motto "Till Rust Do Us Part" and the year, the Swiss Army Knights Chip is bound to enhance every collection it enters.  Plus, like everything about the Swiss Army Knights, it has more functions than you'd see at first glance!

The Knight side is white, while the logo side is black, allowing you to make split decisions by flipping it and calling Light or Dark!

Available now but when they are gone, they are gone!

Don't be the only Swiss Army Knight without one!

It shouldn't take nearly that long?  It is already in the mail, and no one else seems to be waiting that long for theirs.

That is a protective measure, but they are already starting to show up at people's places, so that's good.

I figured as much. But It's hard to tell these days. I've ordered from America before, that order arrived within the week.
But on other orders it took all the time they promised. And some are insanely quick. I once ordered from Germany and that arrived two days later.

So I'm very curious when I will find the chip on my doormat. I'm building a SAK display and the chip will no doubt get a very prominent place in the display.

As a side note, I'm really impressed by this community. I could not have guessed that a tool could gather such a gathering.
I like how everybody is up for a joke, up to share information or just have a nice chat.
Therefore, till rust do us part.

I'm glad you appreciate it!  The Swiss Army Knights have a long and well established tradition as far as internet forums go, starting as far back as 2002 when the Secret Order of the Swiss Army Knife (SOSAK) was formed at Knifeforums.com.  I was made the Moderator of SOSAK somewhere around '05 and eventually developed a secondary site at SOSAKOnline.com which developed into a monthly e-zine.  Both were HUGE for a while.  We outpaced the official Victorinox Collector's Society very quickly in membership and SOSAK became the third highest producing forum (number of posts) at KF, right behind the General Knife Discussion and the For Sale forums, which was very impressive because at the time there were around 100 other subforums.

Then I started Multitool.org in 2006 and tried to look after all three sites- the SOSAK forum at KF, SOSAKOnline and the fledgling Multitool.org, which turned out to be a bit too much to handle what with also working full time and having a life, so I left KF, but retained the SOSAK name after working out a licensing deal with the owner of KF at the time.  Eventually he sold KF to F+W Media (owners of Blade Magazine and Blade Show) and I decided it was time to split off and do our own thing, as there really wasn't much crossover anymore, and the Swiss Army Knights were born, but with many of the same members that made SOSAK great.

I've always said that it's the members that make a forum great, and I firmly believe that- but you have to give the members a reason to make a forum great, and I think the proud history of the Swiss Army Knights is something that binds those of us that have been around to have known it, as well as giving relative newcomers something cool to be a part of, in addition to the just plain, coolness of SAKs themselves.  Plus, if it's one thing I have learned about SAKs over the past 20ish years that I have collected, is that Victorinox (and Wenger) has a lot of secrets, and as much as you think you know about them, there's always something that someone comes across that makes you

It's great when you come across old SAKs that you don't know or don't recognise, and that isn't listed on SAKWiki, and no one else seems to know much about.  I have a few like that in my collection and they make me smile every time I look at them, because it just goes to show that there's always going to be something else to learn about and enjoy!

That is very much true. Members make or break a forum.

After years of carrying only one SAK this forum flamed up my interest in SAKs again. Over the years I bought a couple of SAKs, just for the heck of it. Some have proven more useful than others. Now, taking a closer look at all the knives and reading a lot of them online I've discovered a great world behind the tool.
A SAK will give it's all when you need it, but even after all those years will never give up his dearest secrets  ;)
