does anyone know what the oldest known date code for any of the Juice MTs is?

mine is 1001, and I found This Reference to September Delivery to retailers

"The new Juice line is scheduled for retail delivery beginning in September at suggested retail prices ranging from $60 to $94"
If I can help, let me know

I'd like to see a new blade less kf4 with scissors instead of the blade

I would be all over that like a rash! :gimme: :gimme: :gimme:

Some of us have been dreaming that dream for years and years. With the latest "reboot" lacking any KF4 update, I've pretty much given up on the idea.

Ah the KF4...it was one of the gems I sought once I learned about it.  I was so excited when I stumbled across one for sale from a member here, and it was in practically unused condition to boot :tu:

I'm a bit torn on it though.  It's got a great tool loadout for sure, but it's a bit small for me to want to carry as a primary MT.  It's good for carrying around the house or whatever for lighter carry, but it lacks scissors, which I like to have, especially around the house.  The S2 is more suited to this purpose for me, plus it's lighter.  I can pair the KF4 with a SAK, which would be fine, but for lighter carry in sweats or shorts, that's not usually an option.  I don't need the corkscrew, so it's a plus that it doesn't waste space on that.  I don't use the opener often either.  It is a tool I like to have available just in case, but not a deal breaker really.

It just seems to fall in an "inbetween" realm for me, and as a result, it doesn't get carried much.  In all honesty though, I can't claim to really need a full size MT, and the KF4 would likely suffice in most situations I ever encounter, but it's those "just in case" instances where something bigger would work better that keeps me wanting a full size MT on me, at least outside of the home.  Inside the home, it's lacking a key implement for me (and my wife ;)) - the scissors.  If they replaced the serrated blade with scissors, it would be about the closest to a perfect Juice model for me :tu:

This was the thread in which I made my first MTO post :dd:
Several years and hundreds of dollars spent on multi-tools since then, I still do have a fondness for the KF4 :tu:

It's a cool tool. And I like it. Especially because it's an oop tool I think that definitely increases the cool swag. BUT, it IS a nail breaker for sure!  :ahhh

Well mine may need to be used more. I can admit I don't use it often, the wave just makes itself too easy to carry everyday.

But it literally breaks my nails. (and I remember this being a common issue)

I guess I could try oiling it too..

I've never had the nail-breaking problem either. But I've read enough complaints of this, that I have to assume that some of the tools do ship out too tight. Do the current juices still get the same complaints?

I think you may be right that  It's an overtightening issue. I guess it could possibly be the case that the tolerance on the inner tools weren't correct??

It's also a clumping issue too. The side with the 3 flats is the real issue. They truly hurt to get out and they pretty much all come together.

Anyway, the kf4 in lime green or chartreuse or whatever they called it is still a super cool tool man  :D

I've handled a fair number of Juices, and the only time I ever had that problem, believe it or not, was with an S2 display model at the LM store in Portland. I was checking out the updated models, which supposedly were redesigned to be easier to open the drivers... But instead the flats were too tight and stabbed me good when they finally popped open. (It drew blood, actually.) I'm guessing the main problem is a QC issue that means some tools are just too tight.
