On a sidenote: mine came with modded in scissors. If not for those, I would've probably sold it ahead...
Great story Mechanickal!
But I think you need another Charge on your work belt for true MT satisfaction  :multi:

Throughout this topic I have totally forgot the Rebar doesn't have scissors at all.

Strange question but, are the scissors on the Surge fit for making finger nail 'repairs' on the go like the Wave's scissors can?
Nail knicks are my sworn enemy
I do!

It's just that I don't want to risk losing/damaging it for a company that barely buys me screwdrivers and pliers...
Uh can't stand companies like that. I too am a victim of workplace tightass-ation.

Yeah I have been on this issue for weeks now and I never thought I would want a BO LM until Zoidberg put up that photo of his BO Surge at the start of the thread and then I just had to get one.
And maybe the matte black finish will draw away attention from its size as opposed to the satin finish which would only emphasise it. Plus, a "wow that's cool" is way better than a "wow that's smurfin huge".

Don't worry Mechanickal, I'll have to hold myself back .
Everyday I wait for my new BO Surge, I'm going to look at my Wave and think - why are you so shiny and small?

And so the collection grows (to my wife's dismay).
It's so more awesome than I ever imagined.
Can't wait to put it to work tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for recommending this badass MT. Thinking I'll nickname this one Dark Knight

It's super stiff so it's going to need a lot of working. It's also really lubbed which is a nice start.
I had this thing with my charge tti, but is it normal for the plier end to have a very pronounced 'click' to completely close the tool from plier mode to the closed position?

Nice Surge  :tu:

Two of my surges do the pronounced click and one doesn't. I think it's just it interfacing with some of the tools on the handles when closing.  The one that doesn't do the click is the one that gets used the most and is the most broken in. You might notice it more if it starts to wear the BO coating off the point where that interface is. If you're using it for work you'll soon have it covered in use marks anyway.

Cool, thanks Kev. Just wasn't sure if it was a quality control issue that requires a warranty repair due to misalignment or something.
After today's carry at work it got used heaps and I think the 'click' is not as noticeable after just one day. So who knows! :salute:

Surge or ReBar?
Reply #54 on: June 21, 2017, 01:52:54 PM
So I decided to go against my initial decision to use my old leather sheath from my ST300 to carry my new Surge and try out this molle sheath that comes with the MT. After reading Poncho's late experiences with his, it got me curious and hooked on the idea.
And so after the first day of carry my new Surge in its very own molle sheath, it has already busted the drain hole rivet and that's now long gone.

Also, I find that the molle straps on the sheath can only be set up to accomodate a three inch belt. Which in turn provides a lot of play riding on my two inch leather belt.
This gives the sheath a very low carry on the belt and makes it feel heavier.
But having that play and to able to move the sheath around on my belt just those few inches here and there will probably make a nice difference while driving so I can reposition it on my belt and not have a bulky MT jam me in my side, which my Wave does all the time.
Just a few thoughts for now. Hopefully I get a chance to take some cool snaps tomorrow. Peace out :salute:

I have always liked the BO LMs.  The Surge is a beauty.  My LM are random in which click and which don't.  As you know the tool will break in with use.  I found the BO is more durable than I had thought.

Molle sheaths .  The only LM Molle sheath I actually like is the XL Molle sheath.  I think it was intended for the MUT.  There is a thread somewhere regarding that particular Molle sheath.

Can it go horizontally on your belt?

Just too small for a horizontal carry. I could get the belt through loops but I fear the stitching wouldn't hold up very long being under constant stress. :salute:
