I picked up a Swiss made Memostar Alarm watch in a junk shop. Gave it a quick clean and tested it out.
It works - Been keeping good time for over 24 hours now, and best of all, the alarm works.
The alarm is adjusted and set using the top crown - with the crown pushed in you wind up the alarm mechanism and activate it by pulling the crown out.
The date wheel is something I haven't figured out yet, but dks mentioned it may have to be set by turning the hands round 24 hours to progress the date by a day.
It's in used condition (see pics), but still looks good for a 40 odd year old watch. There are several examples on ebay for silly money, but I would like to trade this one for a nice Barlow type knife or a SAK - nothing fancy, but maybe someone out there wants this watch more than me.
I realise I have to put a value on this. It's tough, but on EBay there is one in similar condition going for 'Buy it Now' at between £80 and £90. I don't believe this is a true reflection of its value so won't be asking for anything like that in return.
