I have an eBay search warning me when an SOC Crossgrip comes up for sale, eventually I will get one but for now I am set.

You could ask the seller (Chrysta) of this CrossGrip if she is willing to post to Canada.  I've bought several tools from her in th epast and she has been quite helpful (but I do have a US address)

I already did a month ago, she doesn't ship to Canada and alas she doesn't participate in the Global Shipping Program either. Oh well. Eventually one will come up.

As for adding a washer: maybe. It needs to be absolutely not wobbly. Tightening it down does solve this but it doesn't like the come out :)

And yes, it's supposed to be moved by hand and I only tighten it by hand but what can I say? After a few days/weeks/months of typing like that it tightens like a mofo.

Finally, it came up multiple times to mod but I do not have the tools here and I have no idea where to go or whom to ask in Vancouver to do it. And no, "just walk into the first car shop" doesn't cut, I do not drive, I know no one in such shops here, t would be very awkward to me -- not unless I have no other option (which is not the case) would I do such a cold call.  Maybe in August when I am over in Hungary, it's much easier for me to find someone and not unlikely much cheaper.

I work from home but fly too much. When I carry things it involves an airplane and the TSA. Makes for different considerations.
