Leatherman KB = Not Happy
on: July 27, 2017, 12:53:48 AM
Finally got my Skeletool KB after weeks of bullsmurf and it's going to go right back in the box and shipped back. The lockup is over 100% and the lock is actually slightly hanging over the blade.   I swear I have nothing but bad luck. Pics soon.

And it's the first run, you would think they would want to be on point with the new releases.

If you look close you can actually see part of the liner hanging over the edge of the tang. We all know liner locks drift over with use. This thing will be not locking in a couple months, plus I just don't trust using it the way it is. Don't know if I'm just being picky but this kind of lockup is unacceptable in my book.

If you can zoom in on the second picture you can see the liner is only half on the edge.

Yeah I agree  My Skeletool is closing in on 8 years (it is used but not an extreme amount) and it is nowhere near that far over when it locks up :( I would send that back as well :salute:

I swear I have sent back countless brand new tools. It seems I always get the defects and it drives me insane. I can already tell they are going to want me to pay to send it back and I will refuse and it will turn into a whole big thing. It always goes like that.

You would think that since they had the privilege of designing a knife and not a multitool, they could extend the blade shroud to act as a liner and an overtravel stop. Not that it should be an issue in the first place.

Wow the back of the blade tang that engeges the locking bar is flat. It should be curved. If you have any good liner lock knifes Capt look at them and you'll see what i mean.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

Sorry to hear you had bad luck again Cap'n. Some people here say I have dreadful "luck" with this brand too, but when I see others having issues on quality, I think there's a trend to their sloppiness. I consider it lucky if you don't get a LM with quality issues these days.

Get a refund and spend it with a company who still give a crap about their products  :salute:

Interested in seeing anyone else with a KB to get a picture of the lockup.

I spoke with the retailer that sold me the tool and they handled it very well. Without even asking they offered to personally go down to the warehouse. Hand pick a Skeletool KB that is working as it should and send it to me as a replacement with a pre-paid shipping label to send the other back. Excellent customer service!

I reckon that's about as good a service as you can wish for  :tu:

Agreed and I'm quite happy I didn't have to deal with a headache with this one.

My Skele was that way. Leatherman replaced it. Admittedly I had deformed the wire cutters too doing something stupid but that's beside the point in this instance. Never really trusted the lock because it was all the way over and the only thing stopping it was the pivot bushing on the other side.
