It bit me!
on: July 31, 2017, 06:02:52 PM
Am I the only one who is constantly getting the fleshy part of my hand pinched when using the pliers on a LM? You're busy trying to tighten or loosen something, the jaws slip off, the handles close and OUCH! Was the same with my Skeletool and now my Charge. There is no room between the handles for your hand when the jaws are closed tight. Result, blood blisters, bruises and some slightly blue air. Always the same place too. The fleshy part under the forefinger.

Am I a dufus or do other people suffer this also?

Yes, you're a dufus. Yes, other people suffer that, too.

Its happened to me as well.  The meaty part of my hand is a tasty morsel for my Wave and Charge at times.

I find you can avoid it by not wrapping your hand around the handles so much.

I was sure from the subject that we'd be talking about the Juice flat drivers.

And, yes, I've had the pliers issue too.

Rebar and wave no. Freestyle yes.

But, I don't find it to be a major issue luckily.

Yes definitely happened to me more than once.  Seems to average at least one good bite a year.  And as Aloha said it really gets the meaty part of my hand.

Not a plier-based tool, but my Vic Farmer sure as smurf bit me no later than 5 mins after I got it out of the box...

Happens with me on the Surge if I'm not careful, having said that I've only done it once  :ahhh

I'm trying to work out which model of the Spirit has the bit driver slot? Or indeed two like my modded Charge. :D

By which point I might as well be carrying a Knipex. I have to admit to have played with the idea. But however far from ideal any tool on my Charge is, I can't for the life of me work out how to replace it with the 'real' tools in even three times the bulk.

I recall someone mentioning once that they carry a SAK + a good pair of pliers as something of a compromise. Could be just the thing.
