Fifty POUNDS on a SAK?

Diamond Encrusted Executives not withstanding, are there any that cost that much?
Swisschamps, Wenger 54's, Workchamp, Workchamp XLT ect, yeah there are quite a few, but they tend to be the big buggers :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

60-70 bucks is about the limit I feel comfortable spending, and that's only once in a great while. Usually it's more like 30 bucks.

I don't buy new tools, I'm usually scanning ebay or various sale/trade forums for good deals on used stuff.  Maybe $40 is my limit?  I don't know since it kind of goes by (like what Nomad said), if I really want the item or if I think I'm getting a good deal on it.  Speaking of good (GREAT) deals, I recently got a BO SOG Powerlock with sheath for $15 shipped. ($10 buy it now for the tool + $5 shipping) :o  Great condition and has some slight differences than my EDC SOG, but that's a thread for another day :multi:

Right now I'm looking for black oxide SOG Pocket Power Pliers on ebay...there are two as far as I know and I'm not going to spend more than $25 shipped on one.

Depends on use. If it's just regular cutting chore like paper, fruit, rope etc. I have no problem using any of mine (my most expensive being spyderco military). But if it's stuff that could damage the tool, I duno, like sandpaper, I won't even subject my $15 SAK to it.

It is a funny thing , looking back at my purchases ,$45us for a Suspension  :ahhh :ahhh. In my defence I had not yet joined the forum. I seem to buy MT's for $40-90 , it was a wonderful thing when the Oz$ was 0.92$us.It is now 0.70  . How much? 60euros for a SOG was too much for me , but I have transferred a large amount of garbanzos to my paypal account for a possible assault on 2 SOG's  ::). I have been looking a Kershaw A100 MT's & they are going for a bit now & I think I would break my record for a Switchplier

I agree  :).  It does seem a shame when someone pays a lot for a knife (or anything else) and then puts it away in a drawer  :(.

I don't put them in a drawer, mine are shelf queens so that I can at least look at them :P

In answer to the original question.  I try not to buy new if I can help it.  Most I'll pay on a SAK user is £15 to £20 probably up to £30 for a pliers MT (not that I have) and £70 for a folder.  The latter isn't hypothetical, its about what I paid for my UKPK and its seen some really hard use.

For a knife or flashlight? Less than $40, I see no reason to spend that much.

Multitools I can pay more for. Up to $60... yeah, I'm a real cheapo. :D

The most expensive EDC tool that I carry & use is $100.  I have two SAKs that, with modifications, cost me that.  I bet you can't guess which ones.  :P

My most expensive plier multi is about $60-70.

So, I guess to answer your question, $100 is what I'm willing to spend.  It has to be a pretty special piece to demand that price though.

Pretty well. Although, I see that the £ has slipped against the $ again today, so importing from the US is becoming more expensive at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if they use that as an excuse to put UK prices up further :(

I used to come here a lot.
