Wenger/Delemont Ranger Question
on: August 29, 2017, 01:56:42 AM
Supposedly, the 130mm Ranger have a cutout in the liners to hold a 1/4 bit, but is often covered up by the scales.  Anyone got a suggestion as to how I'd cut out the scales cleanly to expose this?

I'm going to (one day) make some wooden scales for mine and make a hole in them to expose the hex hole.

I did this to mine, I started by drilling a smaller hole and then extending it with the help of a small (3.5mm) chisel.

Perfect work :tu:  Nicer than a simple 8 mm drilling.

I think that the fact that I didn't achieve a "perfect" result (my hexagon is a little bit askew etc.) together with the rough edges might actually be working in my favour since I haven't had any trouble with the bits falling out.

I think a circular hole might be nice also (and much easier).

Yes, they're the same for this.

I always did that but I found the work of Fortytwo very nice and it holds the 1/4" bit.

Thanks. Yes, it's old Celoron (about 40 years old). It became darker with time.

Yes, maybe I should have noted that the knife I have is the Victorinox version.
