Knockoff of Skeletool or Something Cheaper?
on: September 06, 2017, 03:56:29 PM
I've lost two Skeletool CX tools in the last month.   I have them clipped in my pocket and somehow they come out or something........I really like the size and the function.   If I'm going to be losing them I'm thinking of getting something cheaper.   Is there something similiar in size or even a knockoff brand I could buy that wouldn't hurt so much when I lose it.  It's my EDC and I use it a lot.  Maybe I should try a Freestyle??  It's cheaper and I just lose the screwdriver.

Could you use a lanyard/cord with a quick release clip on each end so you can't lose it ?

Whats wrong with a lanyard tied to your trousers and clipped to the skeletool with a lobster clip?  :)
Just a suggestion.  ;)

(Greg beat me to it.  )
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Quick and dirty photo and lanyard. I'm sure that someone will have a photo of a better one.  :tu:

I like freestyle (and love skeletool).
It depends how much you need the drivers and bottle opener on skeletool.
Maybe you should get the basic skeletool instead of CX? I actually think its better tool than CX, because the knife is easier to sharpen.

I've purchase several Skeletools from Home Depot for $25 as gifts. That's a very fair price for that tool. IMO

Cheaper than that ... ?

Do you have a shoelace ?  Tie it so it's a loop, pull the loop through a belt loop of your troussers, pull one end of the loop through the other end and pull it tight around the belt loop, click the carabiner of the skeletool on the other end of the loop, and use the pocket clip like you did in the past, with the shoelace loop going from your belt loop to the bottom of your pocket.

Not the most esthetic solution, but very cheap and works just fine  ;).
