What is your main concern when you say safe to purchase?

Problems, color, price, other?
I haven't heard of many issues with the Raptor and doubt they are going to drop a surprise 2nd generation model anytime soon.
If it's price or color and you can snag one you like at a price you feel is reasonable, go for it. I got mine at an open-package discount from one of my local retailers when the tool was fairly new. It's an ok tool for a GFAK but too large/heavy for my IFAK (personal preference). Not sure I would pay the retail on to get another if it ever came to it, but your mileage may vary.
