Doom Eternal.
on: July 19, 2020, 01:13:01 PM
I had a former student I would talk to everyday at work in the first semester before COVID-19 struck (he graduated this year). All he would rave about was how great Doom Eternal will be when it came out. I liked Doom 2016, and thought I should get Doom Eternal to see what he was going on about. Talk about a stressful game lol. I like to play a game to relax. I can't seem to do it with this title. Fantastic game otherwise. Play is smooth and quick...and the graphics are very nice. I am finding all the keys challenging to remember what does what in the heat of battle.

Anyone else play this game, and what are your thoughts on it if you have?

I recently finished Doom 2016, which I generally enjoyed.
I'm not sure if I'll try Doom Eternal or not.

Eh wut?

The last four computer games I played were from 2002....

Which is about all my computer can handle....

Looking forward to playing Doom Eternal in 2040.....

When I play a video-game (on PS-4) I also try to play to relax.

Occasionally I get dragged into online Battlefield 1 or 5 mayhem by my boys, but most of the time I stick with single player stuff like Ghost Recon Wildlands/Breakpoint, and the awesome world of kingdom come Deliverance.

Maybe some online Red Dead Redemption 2, trying to mind my own business and avoiding other players  ;).

And I do some race games also, Gran Turismo Sport, Dirt 2.0, MXGP2019, Ride 3, Project Cars 2, maybe even a bit of F1 2019, all these games mostly racing against AI players and my oldest son.

Haven't played Doom since the 90's  :-[.

I have the Microsoft Solitaire Suite on my computer. I can play about 800 different kinds of card games. That's about the extent of it.

I have most of the classic dooms, none of the ultra modern ones, it's always been a game that left me feeling a bit crook. But I appreciate the work put into it, but usually preferred unreal games.

I recently bought the two modern star wars battlefield games (how did I wait so long to snap these up) during steam sales and enjoyed playing a little although I have not had much time for gaming recently.

Previously was rather hooked on the early access on 7 days to die, a fps/exploration/zombie survival/building game, talk about time sink.

Mostly been building cities in Cities Skylines.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

Forgot to mention Cities Skylines (and Star Wars Battlefield, which was free on PS4 last month).

And Minecraft... doesn't look like much at first, but once you're playing it... great fun.

I find it tough. My reflexes aren’t what they used to be plus my brain process is not as flexible. I’ve played with my son and he always amazes me with his lateral thinking.

I watched the gameplay but meh. Not my style. I loved the original Doom and Quake games. Wolfenstein etc.

I play snowrunner or The Division 2 to relax. Although they both have stressful points (almost tipping a load over or being outgunned, respectively). Majority of the time Im relaxed.

I wouldn't have thought to play Doom to relax - it's hardly relaxing!
Freecell is what I turn to for that.
