New member and Traveller Mod Question
on: October 22, 2017, 03:58:52 PM
Hi all,

I've just registered, although I have checked in from time to time as a lurker.

I'm considering a Traveller or a Voyager, but have had a hard time definitively choosing between the two because it is hard to tell the exact differences. Can anyone help?

Also, I've read here that US versions often don't come with instructions (especially the Traveller Lite). Is this so? Can they be had online?

Finally, has anyone ever been brave enough to do an Alox mod of one of these, with torx screws? I realize it would be a challenge to cut a window in the alox scales. Or is this mod impossible due to the battery placement or electronics?

Regards,

Jeremy

Jeremy, I think it will be usefull for you to read these 2 topics (and add SAKWiki to your bokmarks meanwhile):
http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Voyager
http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Traveller

Short summary:
1. Voyager was discontinued (because it was replaced by Traveller).
2. Traveller has more electronic tools (like Voyager and Altimeter had both)

Welcome aboard mate.

A couple of things:
  • The traveller has more electronic features
  • the electronics take up more space than the depth of the scale, and poke through the outer liner
  • an alox mod needs to be a 91mm scale fabrication job using cnc

All I know is that I don't know anything - but I can't prove it!

Welcome aboard, Jeremy.

Good luck figuring out your mods...there are plenty of people here who have thought of these types of mods.
