Grinding the screwdriver spine on 111mm?
on: October 24, 2017, 03:01:54 AM
Has anybody ever ground the spine of the locking screwdriver on the 111 mm knives to a 90° spine? I'm looking at this as a possible option for a "scraping" surface for ferro rods as it locks and does not run the risk of folding on you like the spine of the saw blade. Sure in a pinch the blade does work but I'm wanting to preserve it as that is awfully rough on it and if I'm in a bind I may need as much of a edge as I can get.

Low and slow I know is the name of the game for grinding I just want to check in here before I do it to see if any oddities were uncovered.

I have not done it but just use the saw. Try to put your thump against the saw and give it a push to the side (not to much) and the friction should hold it in place
