The more I use and carry the Executive (and its cousin the Ambassador) the more it pains me that these models weren't more popular. Yeah, the 74mm is a bit larger than the 58's, but not so much that it won't still fit in the fifth pocket of a pair of jeans. Yet it gives you so much more handle to grab on to than the Classic based knives. In my mind, this should be the size that's hanging from everyone's keychains.

I really like the stainless Director version.  I have one NIB, but won't carry it.  Afraid to lose it, plus the chance of replacing it is low.  I have several used other, older 74mm models in stainless that I have around.  Some have good nail files.  I keep them by my favorite seats.  No keyring on any of them, and stainless might as well be greased ice as far as staying in my pockets.
My Mods: 58mm Workshop, 91mm Picnicker, CyberCompact
Some Fav's: long nail file models, vintage unusual stainless
Quirk: I like the metal file more than the wood saw

I agree.  I really wish that Victorinox would have made a MidiChamp in the 74mm line.

A MidiChamp with some tools from the 58mm Victorinox and the Wenger Pocket Tool Chest.

I had to bring this thread out of obscurity. We can't forget the incredible Executive.
Here's one of mine in it's natural habitat.

I found this old girl on the eBay, a while back.
The Alcan branded Alox scales had been damaged by some unknown processes but the tools/blades were in almost perfect condition.  After taking a nail file to the damaged areas to smooth out the hotspots and repurposing an old knife slip for carry, ACE (AlCanExecutive) has taken quite well to accompanying me on a nearly daily basis.

I also love the ALCAN scales. They must have bought a lot of Executives as I see them for sale fairly often. I have a couple myself, an early 60s black Exec and a blue Prince.

Here is one of my favorites. Late 50s with Abercrombie and Fitch engraved on the back of the nail file. (That's back when A&F was a serious outfitter store, supplying polar expeditions and such.) The tweezers on this knife have a nickel silver head instead of the typical aluminum or plastic. Very pretty in person. The best part is the tools and springs are like new. It snaps like a new SAK.

One of my few true safe queens.

Very, very nice Executive psyj - Lovely scales - Are they brass?  ???

Quite an old one - Looking at the orange peeler (gen II) and the scissors - I think that black spring was from the 70s

I assume it's an original (eg peening)

PS. Just seen you A&F Executive (even more) oldie in the post above - Also a beaut    ;)    :D

Thank you. I'm pretty sure the scales are gold plated. The color in person is pure gold. I polished a fair amount of brass in the navy and I've never seen it look like this.

I've found a new use for the orange peeler.  It works really well as a Lego separator, especially when Lego's can't grip the part.

It's length, and the sharp edge, really let you get to, and between, awkward and stuck bricks.
