Hi guys,
Just stumbled onto this page while trying to work out what model Gerber I have so I can get a leather pouch for it, I actually found it in a back country hut in New Zealand.

Looks like a “Mr pinchy” as you call it, an excellent name for it  :) Oh and no scissors on my one?!

See attached pics...
Looks like a nice condition Mr Pinchy you have there from the mid-90s.  :like:

Sometimes the slide cap screws work lose or get tightened by previous owners. Their height is quite critical for the smoothness of the ‘flick’. So you may need to adjust these slightly if the action is not smooth. The pic shows mine, you want a small amount of play below the base of each screw head.

When setup, these MPs are really fun to flick and use!

Replaced a cigarette power plug on my camping light today. Mr Pinchy and the soldering iron was all I needed. All good now...  :salute:

Thanks Matt. Promised myself to do a rotation this weekend. Still to make a decision... MP has been a joy to carry and use this last week.

More usage. Mr Pinchy to pinch close a faulty zipper on a tent bag. These things always too small for the tent and pop open.  :(

While you're doing that I'm just starting!
What may follow is all your fault Max  :D
Well... and GLBM's too !

 :mail:

It looks like a late version 2 Gerber Multiplier  :tu:
So from about '93 - '94. I was exactly looking for one from this era.

Over the next days I'll give it a proper edge (I hope) and try it out a bit  :hatsoff:

 That’s a sweet example you landed there Matt!  :like:

The flick gets quite addictive and with a little practice, needs very little effort. I love how easily it carries in the pocket and feels in the hand.

I have to blame gerleatherberman who generously provided my first MP. Now have three and eyeing another

I guess we are just spreading the love!

Looking forward to your impressions.

Thanks Max
That flick is fun  ;)

As per the seller it was never used.
And I think that's true.
The sheath is a little dirty (not worn though) and the pliers show some marks from frequent contact to the handles inside.

It might have been kept in the car for ages I guess.

Oh, and I just figured where the small marks on the blade might come from. The handles must be fully opened and not close any bit when folding back the blade... if you know what I mean.

Great score, McStitchy! Looks almost new; a very nice awl; oooooh, and the adjustable pliers pivot ...   !
 :tu:
Does the sheath has the bit/"coupler" compartment, or is it just a regular one?

Excellent score Steve   :ahhh

By all the info provided from our dear Mr.Pinchy friends here it looks like a late version 3, just before they replaced the awl-of-death with a file.

BTW, that plier head seems to be a bit of a rare one. It got the big screwed pivot again for a short while  :tu:

It is wonderful to use Mr. Pinchy as a actual tool.
You and your MP are already 人馬一体(the horse and the rider cooperate as if they were a single creature)!
( ・∀・)=b

> McStitchy

How beautiful your Mr. Pinchy is!
I like this early types pliers which were processed rounding corners.
It's somehow sexy. ヾ(´ε`*)ゝ
Congratulations!!

> SteveC

As McStitchy stated, I think this type of pliers is valuable.
Great find! (*´ο`*)=3
Will you exchange this awl(utility blade) to the file?
I think it's better to buy another later model with a file.

Thanks hiraboo,
also for all the info you're providing about them.
Very interesting and appreciated  :hatsoff:

Btw, did you ever take the tool implements out of the handles?
Do you know how the tools pivot screws look like maybe?

To take the tool implements out of the handles, you need to use 1/16 inch hex wrench.

Usually, one screw is tight, and the other is a little loose. So you can loosen one side easily. But the other screw does not loosen because it runs free.

Opening one implements halfway, you can add tension to the center shaft.

Now you can prevent the screw from running freely. Let's loosen them.

If your Mr. Pinchy has round nuts instead of button head screws, it is easier to loosen the screws.

CAUTION
From here, a very grotesque image follows. (´ж`;)
If you are eating, or you have a heart disease, please do not watch.

When removing the pliers, you need to use 3/32 inch hex wrench.

I made these small tools from a paper clip to disassemble the pliers head.

I don't want to imagine what cause this messy thing... (;´д`)
All I need is clean up!

Fini ━━━━ヽ('∀`)ノ━━━━ sh !!!!

Wow... thanks a million Hiraboo !   :hatsoff:
That's exactly what I was looking for  :tu:

That explains why I couldn't tighten the tool implements play on one side.
It looks like the "pivot-barrel" is a tiny bit too long as it's on full contact already.

No, I would add a file in place of one of the blades
