Identify this tool (not fun)
on: November 08, 2008, 09:48:22 AM
My dad's been using it for ages. The blade is replaceable and ultra sharp. There was a tiny lamp built into the handle at one time, but it has since been lost.

I think we've seen that one before here... it looks familiar.

Where's Calvin when you need him?  I hope one of his dogs didn't eat his computer... even if it is a Mac!  :D

I believe that is a Romulan Warbird (D'dedirex class) standard issue box cutter :P

No more television for you.   It's clearly a "SHARP BLADE" Model Zero, from the Mount WARNING Knife Co., New South Wales, Australia.  (Notice the triangular mountain logo above the WARNING company name ...  clearly from the early days when they were still in business...)  G'day!    :ahhh

Seriously, take the handle apart with the screw.  There may be casting marks, logos, or model information on the zinc inside.

It is quite possibly no-brand, but cheapie is a stretch. The handles are solid steel (not stainless) and covered with some corrosion-resistant metal. I have taken it apart in the past and found no additional markings. Some kind of custom rectangular battery was inside. The blade locks.

Me and my dad really respect this thing. Wish I could recommend its brethren to others, but I don't know what they're called or where to get one.

P.S. lol @ Mount Warning
