Mini Wave mod.. well sort of..
on: December 17, 2017, 03:57:36 PM
To start off, its a Sunday and my wife and kids are not around. So I have all the time to myself.

No good tools / parts were victimised in this mod. All came from my box of ' spare parts '...

I had a wave frame that had one side on internal tools broken into 2 piece. Probably the previous user put in too much torque into twisting with the drivers.

Anyway, here's what i did.. Kinda mixed feeling.. I am still trying to figure out how to make the finish less like a wave chopped into half.. The bottom part look a little strange..

Pictured with a Mini.

As I had lost the function of the drivers, decided to add in one modified one.

Finally a picture with the OHO. I didnt need a scissors as I always have a micra with me. Toolset are mostly place holders until until I can finalise what I want to put in. At the moment, Its fully functional. The shortness of the handle was one of my concern, in real usage it feels quite decent, much more comfortable than the Mini.

Now, I need to think of a way to make the bottom less awkward...  :-\

The part that snapped into 2 before I chopped off the handle..

I chopped it off right above the latch for the lock. So it's almost half of the tool is gone.

I say again.. It's made up of beat up parts. So no losses or innocent leatherman were killed in the process..

That probably will go. I almost never use a saw. I am in a urban environment all the time. It was a ugly gold saw from a blotch TTC batch. Think I have to much free time on hand..

Not normally a fan of the Wave, the ergos are just off for me, but I am a fan of the Mini. This, this could be very nice.

How short is that saw?

Not quite sure really.. Cutting surface about 2in I think. Feels about the same as a suspension saw.

Yeah, never really like half tools in that sense. It just feel awkward, doesn't have the ergonomic to function properly.

Having some design ideas. Going to work something out tonight. Doesn't help when my work place banned all use of power tools. So going to fall back to the good old hacksaw, files and lots of elbow grease.

Absolutely.. It broke quite a number of teeth from my good hacksaw blade.. Just by sawing the frame and pliers head... I had to use a new one today. The modifications are almost done.  :D
