Kevin what happened, you alright?

Yeah I'm good thanks, things just seem to be coming from all angles at the moment. I switched back to carry a Surge to do the things I needed do so failed the challenge at the end.   I'll be sitting out the PX challenge as well as I don't have time at the mo

Ok it's time for my thoughts.  Ouch!  That makes my head hurt, but I'll do it any way.   Let's see where do I start?  By now every one should know my EDC of choice for 20 years has been the Spirit's Big Brother, the SwissTool X.  So that is what I judge all others by.  The Spirit is DEFINATELY familiar, all outside locking tools with individual back springs so no clumping.  You only get the tool you open, LOVE that!  The pliars are a good cross between needle nose and blunt nose, the cutters work great, and the Chisel is AWLSOME.  The sharpend corner and actual cable stripper make it far better than the Swisstool chisel.  The thickening of the bottle opener for use as a crate opener/ prybar is a good way of reducing size and weight vs the Swisstool, but I prefer the Swisstool oversized flat blade/ prybar tool seperate from the regular Victorinox bottle opener.  I deal with a lot of oversized flat blade screws.  The Spirit file although a narrower profile dose seem to be more agressive and I like that.  Now to the faults if one can call them that.  The Spirit just dosen't have the HEFT of the Swisstool.  I know that is exactly why most prefer it and I did enjoy how it just dissapears on the belt and can easily fit in a pocket.
I on the other hand find that extra bulk of the Swisstool reasuring when I am pushing an impliment hard (useng a hammer to drive the chisel, using the Swisstool as a hammer, tapping the philips into a screw head full of baked in gunk or realy prying hard with the pry-bar etc...)  I also missed the square, straight edge and rulers on my Swisstool.  The biggest disapointment of all THE SCISSORS.  They are fine for cutting string, paracord, short little cuts that don't need to be precise.  I actualy found for me that the 58mm classic scissors perform better in a wider range of applications.  The modded scissors I started the challenge with did seem to perform a little better for me than the unaltered ones on the XBS I finished with.  Although I have used the butter blade on a Spirit before, neither of the ones I used  here had the partial SE blade, the first one was modded and had the SE removed but was still prety much a sheeps foot shape.  The XBS has a Spearpoint with a very slight curve to it.  I love that blade, it's slightly different from the standard Vic spearpoint due to the curve and it just feels better balanced (for lack of a better way to put it) when in use.  Finaly and it could be just my imagination but the BO XBS although just as polished as the standard Spirit just seemed to be better to grip than the standard version.  Saying that seems a little odd to me because I have heard so many complain about them being hard to grip.  I have never had a problem with the grip on any of my Swisstools including the Spirit.  Now I'm going to take something to counter the pain caused by all this thinking and look forward to seeing some one else's thoughts. :pok: :pok:  Anyone up to the task. :pok: :pok:

Day 30 and some thoughts

The spirit x is a fantastic multitool with just the right amount of tools for my EDC purpose, I was longing for one quite some time before I bought one and soon realized that I don't know how to carry it.. Which ment that I didn't, this challenge was the perfect reason to force my self to do it and I finally found a nice way to carry it. Same carrier only that I moved it to about 1 clock

The only downside is why they have that scissors that they do? I don't like it but that is probably the only negative I have to say and after this challenge I absolutely love having the spirit on my belt!

Starting tomorrow I will start carrying my expedition (now with plus scales) and se if I miss the spirit, some tools are the same and are my favorite and most used

Thanks everyone for a fun and interesting challenge with a lot of fantastic pics!

Day 30.
Douglas,
Indeed a pocket dump is a good way to end the challenge! The Spirit has been a great main tool, but it is time another tool found its' way onto the belt.
Mr. Butch challenged me to a pocket dunp, and here it is with the Spirit.
