Swamp Creatures
on: November 09, 2008, 04:08:06 AM
I saw several today while out exploring the woods. Most were too fast for my camera though. Here are a few I managed to get pictures of. You'll have to look closely though, as their camoflage is excellent. :)

Whitetail Deer browsing in a thicket

zoomed in, same picture

Ruffed Grouse crossing the trail

zoomed in, same picture

A whitetail doe and her fawn, bedded down and chewing their cuds. Can you spot both deer?

It's a switch and pleasure to see deer alive and where they belong, instead of road kill,on my local roads.I wish I had a couple things going for me,namely a cable to connect the camera to the computer so I can download, and second to remember to take the thing with me when I go walking.I don't see swamp creatures but I spot enough herons and cranes wading in the creeks.

Nice shots. I was somewhere in Jersey (don't ask where you need a gps anywhere you go there) two weeks ago, and in the middle of this small town there were deer eating leaves of a tree. I tried to snap some pics but it was too dark for my camera phone.

Another sighting that's burned in my memory is of a deer and her young ling in desert wish I had my camera then.

No special zoom lens or anything, just my regular Canon G9. I was able to get rather close because the wind was blowing, which I think kept the critters from hearing me. :)

So did anyone find the second deer in that last picture?

That one is easy to spot I think he's referring to another deer in the same picture.

I'm disappointed... where's the pictures of em after you shot em?
If you took all the intestines out of your body and stretched them end to end... you would die.
