So yesterday, I might have made a minor mistake......... involving my foot, a dog, my shower, and a speaker.
It all started when I was playing with my dog, and I ran into my bathroom to hide from her. I have done the same thing a thousand times. As I ran towards my shower, I forgot that I had left a speaker on the floor the night before. As I attempted to jump over it at the last second, I kicked it and slipped, jamming my heel into the tile lip and splitting it open instantly. I knew what I had done immediately, and my fears were confirmed when I looked down and saw that the floor beneath me was covered with blood. All this before 10 A.M.

The next two hours were by far the most painful that I have ever experienced before. Whoever decided that the lidocaine shots, which are by far the most painful numbing agents that I’ve ever heard of, work instantly needs to be re-informed. I felt every single stitch go in, on top of the 5 shots of lava in my foot. The whole time I was screaming my fool head off, and all the nurses and doctors were trying not to burst out laughing. My grandfather was sitting outside of the OR and witnessed a few nurses trying to hold back laughs. I fear that I may have chased out the entire doctors office.

Smurf that looks painfull...

I woke up from my sedation while they were bolting the screws into my jawbone 2 weeks ago.
Nobody laughed then...
Especialy not me!

Got local sedations which worked quite well as long as they steered clear of any nerves.

Quite unprofessional to laugh about something like that.
The soles of feet are highly sensitive!

Maybe lidocaine doesn't work on you and they should have tried something else ?  I don't see that screaming level pain is particularly funny, more like a strong indication that they weren't doing their job (ie pain control) properly.

Thanks all for the well wishes, and I am faring quite well. I am still walking around and driving so I’m pretty much normal. The worst part of this whole thing is that I’m on spring break this week, and I have a college visit tomorrow morning, and I can’t go to work this week, which sucks. On the upside, I might be getting a new truck this week.

That looks pretty painful there!  I had a similar incident about 20 years ago just after 8 got my first dog Pete.  I had just moved into a new apartment and was playing quite roughly with my new dog, who had been abused in a previous home.  I ended up stomping down at one point on a shard of broken glass that had been lost in the carpet, roughly about 1/4 inch square, which dug deeply into my foot, just as my dog had leapt at me.

Needless to say I screamed, which terrified my poor dog because he thought he'd done something wrong.  He ran and cowered in the corner, fearing the beating he was about to get while I ran off to the washroom to keep from bleeding too much on the carpet.

As much as I hurt, I was very worried about my dog as I picked glass out of my heel.  I think I broke the world record for bandaging something, or perhaps the record for the worst bandaging job ever as I had to look after my poor mutt who was behind the couch, lying in a puddle of his own pee.

I'm glad it isn't bugging you too much now. That I'd a really painful spot to have a cut, and a hard spot to keep clean.  If the weather is decent enough where you are, try to stick to flip flops or sandals as much a possible for the coming week to keep it aired out and avoid any sweat or lint contamination.

No, I was sure coming at this from the right ankle angle.  :angel:

It does look nasty, and sewing without properly working anesthetics sounds even worse. I once had a small slash in a big toe, and feeling kind of curious and thinking "how hard can it be" (classic last words..), I decided I'd just make a stitch myself. Turned out it can actually be quite hard, including from a practical viewpoint. Those sewing needles are round for a reason. I totally whimped out  :D

Several of those without proper anesthetics sounds real bad!

It has recovered quite well, and hasn’t been an issue. I still hate lidocaine and needles though.
