Master Gardener
on: March 26, 2018, 08:57:49 PM
Finally scored one of these after waiting for a very long time, in fact, ever since SMKW started offering the Master Electrician and Master Gardener in 2006 or 2007, and I was just getting into knives (and SAKs) at age 10. They were produced in really limited numbers, and when I started getting serious with SAKs about three years ago, they were impossible to find. There was one recently listed on eBay (used and carried)--for a whopping $125.

Recently (I'm guessing within the past couple of hours) a gentleman on the All About Pocketknives forum listed one that was new, and boxed for sale for $65, and I snapped it up.

I have liked the tool set since I was a kid, but I don't know if I'll use it or not. I'd like to.

I saw the more expensive one on eBay myself and was tempted to grab it.  Good for you on snagging a less expensive one NIB.  That's a sweet knife!  Now if I could just find a Master Electrician...

The one thing that bugs me about the Master Gardener and the Master Electrician is the redundant Phillips. They have an inline Phillips and one on the backspring.  Corkscrew and miniscrewdriver would make more sense on the back.

I guess the folks at Smokey Mountain don't drink wine and don't think anyone else should either.

As someone who appreciates a good Phillips, I say the more the merrier! :gimme: :gimme: :gimme:

Vic isn't alone... Wenger did redundant Phillips on at least one model that I can think of, the Zermatt.

And while I can't speak for all the fine folks at SMKW, I imagine they're more partial to shine than wine given their surrounding area...  :drink:

I'd agree if they were different sizes.

You may have a point there.
