As I said in my return to the forum post yesterday my wilderness years away have been mainly filled with bushcraft. Below is a pic of my most used kit although not all of it.
Starting at the top left is a pouch of flint with three different steels below. The one that gets the most use is the file as it can be used to ruff up the fibre of the tinder and throws great sparks. The neck knife one is new to me and was made by a good friend Rhys at vcworks. Going across to the tins. The top one is my preferred method with flint and steel which is charred punk wood which you drop a spark into. Below that is a tin of natural tinders. I prefer king Alfred cakes as they are plentiful to where I live. Next are the cotton wool petroleum jelly balls with a ferocious rod which is guaranteed to work. Next is jute and chare cloth, I try not to use this now as it feel a little like cheating. Finally to the side and along the bottom is a current fire bow/ drill set which I mainly save for showing off at events or in the garden.
So do I get it?
