So the knife has lifetime warranty, but the box does not?
Official reply from Victorinox Customer Service in Ibach (summarized) :
"the lifetime warranty covers the knives but not the packaging".

somehow, it makes sense....... on top of that, my current case has obviously been abused by the previous owner.

still waiting for a quote on my new presentation box from the french distributor.

Stay tuned

Hello,
don't know if it is off topic, but when I found (2019) my Wenger Heritage presentation damaged only by storage, I contacted the Victorinox distributor in Italy and after some time they sent my a nex box free of charge

Thank you for your input, Basilio,
au contraire, your are completely within this topic, which is gently sliding towards faulty boxes.

In your case, it is only fitting that Victorinox replaced your box for two reasons, in my opinion :
1/ obviously, the damage is big and due to faulty materials ;
2/ Victorinox has taken over Wenger and must assume their "heritage", bad or good.

In my case, a large part of the damage can be traced to misuse by the previous owner.
So for me, the important thing is to be able to acquire a new one, money is not that important.

I will reveal the cost when all is over and I am satisfied with my new presentation box, which should take five to six weeks,
I understand it will come from Switzerland. Seems that the french distributor has none in stock.

Stay tuned.

Your new box looks great, and from a different design compared to the original.
Which would deserve restoring. Thank you again for these most interesting pictures

Finally got a replacement box -triple packed !- from Victorinox through the french distributor Beligné.
Cost me a bit over 60 dollars. Well worth the money. Turns out Vic Ibach still have a few boxes in stock

Ende gut alles gut

I removed the lid and hinges from the old presentation box.
Once restored : plug the two holes from the hinges,
a little bit of black here, a fair bit of grey there,
it will make a very nice presentation tray.

The new box will be left alone in a safe place.
Having a mint box will definately be a plus if I decide to sell it.

come to think of it, I will probably leave the buttons where they are,
because my old box is not THAT bad. And it might come in handy one day.

The sensible thing to do would be to find compatible buttons.

And add them to the back of a plaquette where you can engrave the model name and serial number.
You can then press it on :D :dd:

this coating on the would-be leatherette is extremely thin. I would compare it to enamel.
and this is precisely what I am going to use to restore it, enamel, You know, the kind you use for models.

I will let the world know how it went, with pictures. Stay tuned.
