No;it is a recently made(within the last 20 or so years)Pak E. Stan special. I bought several different ones from e-Bay awhile back for under $15 apiece.

Wood handled Wednesday 14 August: A John Ek Model 6 combat knife with it's original sheath. For those not familiar with the name he made knives for soldiers in WWII at no charge to them.He employed over 100 people during the war;most of them with disabilities. He kept records of who was the recipient of each knife by serial number and supposedly you can still find out who that person was by contacting Ek Knives. They started out in Connecticut and later moved to Florida. His son still runs the business and makes knives. The original construction is unique as the handles are held in place by pouring molten lead into a countersunk hole in the wood and then filed to finish. For a good capsule history of the company Google John Ek Knives.
According to the serial number this knife was made sometime in 1943 although I still haven't found out who the original owner was.The knife was given to me by an older gentleman for whom I had appraised a bunch of knives for him to sell.Imagine my surprise when I found out that one in the condition of mine was going for nearly a thousand dollars! I told him about it and all he said was,"Well now I know it is in good hands!" Needless to say I will never sell it.

This Buck 110 with the new Ebony wood scales came in the mail to day. Gave it some oil and couple passes over the hone and into the pocket it went.

It would be un-Canadian of me to Not recognize a Grohmann, even when it's closed. Nice !

Wood Handled Wednesday for 9/4/2019: A Blackie Collins design for Bench Mark Knives called the Rolox. Probably the worst designed knife I have ever seen which I will get to shortly for several reasons.
For those who are unfamiliar with the operation of this knife it goes as follows: To open the blade, you press down on the notched back part which elevates the point.By pushing forward on the notches the blade rides forward on rollers until it locks into the open position. To close, push down on the back lock(on the underside of the handle)which once again elevates the point of the blade.Grasping the blade, you slide it to the rear to the locked position.
And now for the design flaws. For one thing it is awkward at best to hold in one hand and operate the lock and blade with the other. The worst part however is that if you are cutting something heavy and exerting a lot of pressure on the handle the lock release falls right under your little finger which can trigger the lock and cause the blade to slide to the rear forcefully. What this usually accomplishes is to grab the skin in between your thumb and index finger rather painfully.DON'T ask how I know this!
Anyway as I am only allowed 4 pictures, the first post will show the operation of the knife and a second will show where your finger lays on the lock. Class over.
