I do not want to spend 699€ on a Casio outdoor watch, just to get a compass, and the altimeter/barometer functions, which aren't even that great on the Casio's in my opinion. Okay, the sensors will probably be very precise, but as long as you can't lock the function of the barometric pressure sensor like you can on the Suunto Core for example, it will never show the right altitude. Last year during our vacation in the Austrian Alps my first generation Garmin Fenix and my Suunto Core were always spot on, while my Casio Protrek was always between 50 and 100 meters off (after calibrating the altitude at a known altitude at the start of our hikes). Simply because you can't "tell" the sensor that a change in pressure is due to a change in altitude or a change in weather. And about the compass, I can get a sweet Suunto button compass to put on the strap of my GWG-100 for only 18€, which doesn't need any battery power and needs no button pushing to operate it, and it's "glow in the dark" and has a rotating bezel, so you can align it with your topomap.Don't get me wrong, I really would like a GWG-1000, but at the current price, I'll pass ...[/i][/rant mode]
