I dont really like the surge, too many tools I wont use. So modding my MUT is my course of action. I already have the scissors and file, so it's just a question of installing them.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
From what I remember, the pivot size on the scraper and punch side are different. I put in a 91mm sak scissor with pivot hole enlarged to 5.5mm on the scraper side before. Punch side, I think it's 4.5mm or something. These are all based on memory... I could be wrong. I am quite sure the surge scissors will not work because u need a liner lock for it to function. Unless u make a liner lock for it..

Unless u make a liner lock for it..Don't know too much about MUTs... so take the following with multiple pinches of salt... but having said that here's some speculation for you:- As the punch and scraper are on the same pivot, isn't it likely that they have the same size hole? I.e. both at 5.5 mm? Or did LM do something fancy with that pivot?- It's true that Surge scissors (which have a 5.5 mm hole) are liner-locked. Now, depending on the nature of the lock for the MUT punch I can see the following options: 1 - If this is also a liner lock of the same size as the Surge's then you're obviously fine. 2. If it's a smaller size liner lock than the Surge's you might be able to carefully file down the scissors' lock surface to match. 3. If it's a larger size liner lock than the Surge's you're out of luck I'm afraid, unless you want to weld on some metal and file it down. 4. It might be a profile lock rather than a liner lock - in which case a Surge liner lock profile can probably be filed down to the required profile lock shape if this is similar to that of a ST300 or Wave/Rebar (I did something similar with a Surge saw/file blade holder which I put into a ST300 handle). Depending on pivot size you might also need a bushing with 5.5 mm outside and the pivot size as inside diameter. As to the file, depending on available space, locking mechanism and pivot sizes, the following options come to mind:Rebar file: Pivot size 4.8 mm, profile lockWave file: Pivot size 5.5 mm (I think, off the top of my head), liner lock. There is enough material to make this into a 4.8 mm profile lock that fits into a Rebar.ST300 file: Pivot size 5.5 mm, liner lock. Here too there is enough material to make this into a 4.8 mm profile lock that fits into e.g. a Rebar (or a SOG PAD). But you'll need to remove more material, judging from what I can see on pics of the MUT.Hope this helps.
