Some of us are getting older..... All of us are actually!

well, I am not that old but I just came from Berlin and noticed the effect of years more than ever...

I walked about 10 to 16km (7-10 miles) every one of the three days I toured the city (avoided public transport  ) and I was able to keep the rhythm of my two more fit old mates from school. 

They do exercise regularly (unlike me), go to the gym, etc. and it was definitely noticeable. I could keep up the path with them but once back at the hostel they were still doing things and going up and down, but my feet, knees and ankles hurt like hell and I needed to sit down for a while every evening, or even get on my back to rest. 

I am fortunate though that I've never had a serious injury, and never broken a bone (except for the fingers in my right hand), something that amazes me thinking about what I did on my teens and when I was younger (jumping from 3-4 meters every now and then, biking on wild rocky trails, running kilometers on rainy forests and getting lost, etc. the usual stuff  )

So to all of you, keep up, strong and healthy,  you seem to do ery well from what I can see and I hope to be able to say so when I am as old as some of the veterans out here. 

In brief, RESPECT!!!

it was the number I deemed appropriate at the time 

it was cool, very cool. Lots of unexpected things (no flies, only wasps,  on every street, store, corner, public park and place I was) that are better than on my hometown (almost no dogs on the streets, huge public parks and quiet places, less traffic, better Metro system) and some that I didn't like as much (Smaller bins, and less present in the city, traffic lights last few seconds for people and passer-bys  , few coffee places and even fewer that serve decaf coffee...you can find any beer much easier!  and coffee is more expensive there) 

Also, I loved the friendliness overall and predisposition to help, variety of food places, safety feeling and ample streets, and absence of clutter and masses of people in most places.
I could've had cheaper public transport, free bathrooms (you have to pay 50 cents on every one, street bathroom, monument bathroom, shopping mall bathroom, food place bathroom, etc.)  and less confusing urban maps (bus mainly, metro was fine)

I loved the monuments and visited lots of museums, liked the city and the people there, and there were lots of Spaniards and South American folks and gals there!
