First time Leatherman owner
on: September 08, 2018, 07:28:55 PM
Hi all been browsing this board for a month deciding what to buy and I was at Lowe's and they had one rebar heritage left with the old leather sheath for 35$ so that made my decision hah. I was looking into the Gerber center drive but the cutters scared me. I'm liking the build quality, very stiff for now, wish it had a knife accessible like the wave but can't beat it for the price.
Great place for knowledge though you guys definitely helped me decide.

Hey Cahill06, welcome to :MTO:

You can't do wrong with a Rebar :tu: and may you have many good uses of it! Nice and pocketable, I've always thought. It'll become less stiff with use, no worries.

A great bargain price on a excellent Leatherman.  The Rebar is my favorite, I have more than one as I have fear of loosing one, so I can sleep better with a back up available.

The Rebars are normally stiff when new.  Add some light oil to the pivot points and work it like a fidget device.

Also, to truly become accustom to this tool and its functions, a 30 day challenge will do just that, plus get you a merit badge.

Welcome to successfully being prepared making your first MT educated impulse buy :hatsoff:
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Welcome and excellent choice for your first LM (first multitool in geneal?), especially at that price!  :tu:

(Pair it up with a Micra and you'll be good to go 95% of the time. :) )

^ Oh yes, the Squirt ES4

And welcome to :MTO:

Unless its been answered, there are several different 30 day challenges where you use the same tool the whole time and record its usage. There is talk of a Rebar challenge in October :tu:

You carry the same MT for the entire 30 Days and use it as much as you can but don't sacrifice quality of a job just to go out of the way and use the MT when a proper tool will do the job much better :salute: I am a bricklayer and I have done many of the 30 Day Challenges  ;) no one would expect me to try and lay brick with a MT instead of a trowel :D

but if you need to sharpen a pencil or cut some string then for sure use your MT  Also if you need to tighten a few screws then use the MT instead of a dedicated driver but if you are buidling something out of 2X4's then use an impact driver vs the MT  That is my take on challenges anyways :salute:

Welcome.  :assimilate:
The Rebar is a good choice for a first multitool.  If you need an easy access knife, or scissors, carry the Rebar with a SAK . :climber:
