Theres options like SOG Baton. But if you really dont need pliers, SAK is most versatile tool compared to othersOnly Tools Matters
And here´s my question for you: if one doesn´t need pliers for EDC, is there any reason to have a MT instead of a SAK?

CeHo took my clever answer: NO.
I do know of many people that do not carry anything or even own any.
There is a certain satisfaction that comes with being 'that guy', all of the plier-less peons out there come running to, when they need something fixed. No, you don't have to have pliers with you, if you aren't going to use them. But, how certain are you, that you'll never use them?
You got it all wrong. You are suppose to have both, a SAK and a pliers based multitool.
