Thanks, it’s a little tight but manageable, I wish it was a tad bit deeper cause then I could turn that table 90°  and push that stool in, then if I still had the door I could close it and advoid everyone!!

When I was doing the MP425 mod from my sales thread, I set a camera running. I did it in instalments for various reasons, and had a go at stitching them together this evening (brain was too scrambled for paperwork). I didn't realise how badly the white balance would screw up between clips, how tricky it was to try to do a mod with your arms extended so the camera had half a chance of capturing some of it, how long it took to edit a short vid, or how tediously long it would take to render once you've put all the various tweaks in.

... and it's rather disappointing. The transitions didn't work smoothly, and the white balance is all over the place.  ::) It's not entirely dreadful for a first attempt though. It looks like I have much to learn in terms of making youtube vids. I'll try and get it uploaded now.

Can you set the white balance on the camera manually?

20 minutes remaining...  ::)

Don't get too excited, it's a very ham fisted affair. I'll probably take it down and redo it at some point, (I really ought to redo it BEFORE sharing it) but I thought I'd let you guys see it in it's "rough and ready" state, as you might have useful suggestions that a numpty like me can get his head around to make it better.

Probably... but I'll have to play around with that.

The other issue is that when I filmed this, I had to have the camera to the left of me, so the screen was on the far side, and I couldn't see what the camera was seeing.

This was mainly just me trying to figure out just how much I don't know yet... and it appears, that's quite a lot :surrender:

Part of that is simple, set the camera up and see what area is framed and what it's limits are. You can subtlety mark that and then you wont go out of frame. Work that out for each area you are filming and bingo, no need to see the screen  :tu:

I actually did that with 4 pennies, just off shot in each corner  :D

However, if you lift your hands up off the surface, you need to compensate.... and I didn't always do that  :-\

Maybe putting a mirror behind the camera would allow you to see the screen?

I just had a look at your video. Very nice!  :like:
Maybe if you keep the desk lamp on whenever you’re filming, day or night, the white balance won’t be such a problem.

A piece of string above the top of the shot?

I just watched three minutes of unscrewing, should I keep watching?  ;)

If I may offer some constructive criticism...
- It would be nice to break it up with some explanations of the next stage.
- I found the music distracting.
- Some repetitive parts (eg unscrewing) could be condensed.

That's why I uploaded it in its crap state  :D

Commentary, or just on screen titling?

- I found the music distracting.

Wrong music? Too loud? Shouldn't have music at all? I didn't want to upload a clip that was me constantly swearing at it :D

Agreed!  :tu:

Either or.

Not really my type of music but more that it builds up in crescendos that don't really match what is happening on screen.

Over the weekend, I'll play around with this a little more, smooth out the transitions, condense it a bit, add a less distracting soundtrack, and look into the titling suggestion too.

I like the music and the camera was fine for what the video was about. :like:
Thank you for doing the video. The only thing I would have done differently is to possibly narrate the steps in the process. I do understand if you don't care to have your voice out there on the Internet though. :)

I think I would prefer not to do vocal commentary, but I think I might need to on some of the others  it might be tricky to make sense of them otherwise...

It is fully understandable to be hesitant of recording your own voice. It's kind of like stepping up a rung on the ladder of recognition. :ahhh
At least you wouldn't sound like a country bumpkin(as far as I know of course). Every video I ever made automatically deducted 20 IQ points in the minds of people who have interacted with me online.

In terms of accent, the nearest you might be familiar with is Sean Bean, although he has toned his accent down somewhat over the years. He grew up within 5 miles of where I did. Jarvis Cocker is another, we we actually went to the same school, though a few years apart
