Huntsman Challenge

For over 30 years my faithful Huntsman was my edc.  Once I started collecting, though, it's pretty much sat on the bench.  I'd like to change that!  I'm putting the call out to all Huntsman to don theirs and join me from 1 November to 30 November on the mighty Huntsman Challenge!  Modded Huntsman are welcome, as is carrying another mt, but the idea is to use the Huntsman primarily.

Merit Badges Start a thread with a photo of a repair you made with duct tape Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a Classic SAK for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a Challenge thread, carry at least one red edc item, and post a photo every day for 30 consecutive days.  Post a pic for Halloween of your pumpkin (or turnip or gourd or whatever you traditionally carve for Halloween!) being carved by any SAK, multitool, pocket or woods knife you may own!  Only available once a year Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK-alike, aka multi-layered, knife-based pocket tools for thirty (30) consecutive days. I'm getting ready to buy a secondhand inlaid logo BSA model Huntsman (which is really a Fieldmaster) to replace the standard Fieldmaster I trashed during my teen years. Does the BSA "Huntsman" and Fieldmasters count?

I've been messing around with too many non-SAK challenges lately.

A Huntsman challenge? 


Merit Badges Start a new thread and post a photo of an Executive or Director for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the pen for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participants shall carry and use one Soldier knife, the model of their choosing, for the duration of the 90 days and post a picture each day. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a Delemont SAK for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK Cybertool (any variant), Swisschamp, Champion or Toolchest for sixty (60) consecutive days. Participate in a challenge by carrying  a GEC knife and post a photo of it  for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo daily of any SAK 74mm or smaller ( you can switch it up daily ) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Build your own version of an MRE using off-the-shelf components, post a photo of the completed MRE and store at room temperature for 6 days or more. Maybe the new aircraft carriers are being fitted with a wooden hull to compensate for some of the other rising costs?

I do have a Huntsman... :D

I had a Huntsman clone growing up. A very decent clone. Not like those cheap sak-a-likes. One day my brother got a cheap silver one, you know those, so I gave him my Huntsman clone, and got a SwissChamp, then a Fieldmaster, and then a lot more. I settled for a D. Tinker, and gave my brother one as well.

But I do have a Huntsman...  :ahhh

Good challenge, Barry.

I have a Huntsman that I got this past spring during a buying frenzy. I keep it in my top drawer at work along with an old PST II in case any other technicians dkneed it. Huntsman and the Fieldmaster are really the best, simple Swiss Army knives. All the basic tools plus scissors and a saw. Everything else is extraneous and exotic, really.

The Huntsman and Fieldmaster put the "scissors vs saw" debate to bed.

Now, if only they would replace that hook with a Philips on some future model,  and they could put the Philips vs corkscrew debate to bed as well.

Turkey or pumpkin pie...we are entering the best season of the year. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year...family and great food...no expectations, just fun!  :cheers:

30 days with a Huntsman or Fieldmaster?  Gee, you could have at least made it something challenging.  I'm in. How about  including the Mountaineer as well, in case anyone thinks they need a file more than a saw?

So is the fieldmaster allowed? I don't have a huntsman since I have a fieldmaster, but much rather carry my Mountaineer. Can a mountaineer slide in? To me its no debate, a saw is pretty much useless to me.
