RIP Multitool.org Store
on: January 01, 2019, 03:15:31 PM
The topic title may be a bit misleading- the MTO Store isn't dead, it just smells funny.

Unfortunately it did not survive the move to the new server, and, since Micah and I hated the software we were using, we wanted to rebuild it from the ground up anyway, and this is our chance.

The Multitool.org Store will be offline for a while as we finish the more pressing new server issues, then start testing new software options, then configure whatever we choose, then populate the store with products etc.

If you need or want anything from the store stock in the meantime (or want a price on anything that may not have been in the store) feel free to send me a PM and I will do my best to help you out.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that helped support MTO by offering stock to list in the store and everyone that purchased the cool stuff we had in there.  When the newly resurrected Multitool.org Store rises from the ashes, I think it will suit member needs greater than the original did- maybe we should call it The Multitool.org Store Plus and add replaceable cutters!  :P

That's not a feature IMHO, it's a necessity!

Scary title, but makes sense reading it. Hope to see it up again soon.

anything you need help with?

I don't think so at the moment, and if there was there's very little chance I'd be much use in asking!

I will keep your offer in mind, should we run into any roadblocks though.  For now, sorting out the forum, Wikis and Gallery while fine tuning the server all need to take priority.  The store is great to have running, but it's operation (or lack of operation) doesn't directly affect the forum like the other stuff does.

As far as things go, this was not entirely unexpected either, as, like I said, the existing software was absolutely terrible.  It was a constant battle to keep things listed, and every update fixed one problem but caused two more.
