Vic's Warranty Repair question
on: January 02, 2019, 06:54:08 PM
Hey folks,
I managed to bend the SD tip of the combo tool of my old 58mm Rover.
The combo tool is of the old variety, with a flat SD tip, instead of Phillips.

If I send it to Victorinox Repar, will they replace it with a new type (with Phillips tip), or with an old one (flat tip)?
Anyone had a similar experience, replacing discotninued tools or that have had an update?

Do repairs caused by user error get covered by the warranty?

Well, I've had some clear user error issues repaired, like bent pliers and, blades loose from prying and smashed liners in used purchases.

Though I requested merely restoration to functionality, so I don't know if a repair with period-correct parts is free, it is after all partly about reserving collecting value, not just function, which the guarantee is for.

You could ask your importer and Victorinox. Note that if they have a local center they probably do 91mm, 84mm and 58mm but probably don't have discontinued parts, so with just sending it your importer would almost definitely just slap a new version on it to not have to send it to Ibach.

I'm pretty sure Vic keep a few bins of discontinued parts - So you may be lucky if you ask.

Why not straighten it yourself?  ???
