Everyone can start a fire on a sunny dry day.
But how about practicing when conditions are bad?
Like 1℃, rain the last 4 days straight, spray rain at the moment plus wind, and everything around is dripping wet and your location is a muddy spot at a small lake? And you only got a SAK and a firesteel.
Sounds great, isnt it?
First pic, the way I walked while reaching the lake plus my shoes.
There, I gathered as dry stuff as I could. Obvious birch bark (dripping wet), some grass seeds (also moist), and small twigs of various trees around. Additional pine resin for fuel.
Baseplate is some pine bark, wet placed right into the mud.
