Ebay wont let me buy knives

Just because I don't have a Visa or mastercard it wont let me bid on knives  I have my Solo bank card linked to my paypal but thats not good enough , B*gger . I know it will help to stop youngsters getting knives but for me I'm gutted . No more Vics and multis from ebay until I get something sorted out .

Isn't there some other way you can verify your age with PayPal? I thought the whole point of PayPal was you didn't need to use a credit card?

Try mailing them Dunc, they must have some other way of doing it surely.

Isn't there an option to pay directly from your bank account skipping the bank/debit card? See if that works. Paypal asks me to add/verify my bank account each time I make a transaction, but I chose not to, my credit card is enough.

I noticed this a while back, annoyed me too. Really must get around to changing my card to a proper Visa one

IIRC what I ended up doing was opening a sellers account.  Oddly I don't recall putting anything other than my visa debit card details on there.

eBay UK implemented this back in September.  To bid on any knife or bladed item you must put a credit card on file with them.  This applies to all bidders irrelevant of where you are.  So if in your particular part of the world there is no minimum age to buy a knife its tough.  Want one off an eBay.co.uk seller you'd better have a credit card.  There's no getting round it with PayPal or the like either, its either credit card or no bid. 

Don't quote me but I think ebay.ie run the same policy, even though the minimum age to buy a knife in Ireland is sixteen.
