Teddy was the  practical sort so maybe, but I don't think so.  It would have required blade engraving and probably a small plate on each side with his initials to have impressed him enough to carry it.  Even then, he had his choice of knives and it probably wouldn't have been large enough for his needs or personal requirements.

He may have appreciated the functionality of a Buck but I think he would have preferred a Rough Rider.  ::)

He did carry a belt knife when out West. I don't know how he equipped himself when back East.   :dunno:

Might he have gone for one like this?

The only way we can know for sure is to send one back in time and ask Teddy what he thinks about it.

I will volunteer to be one of a team of brave Chrononauts to carry out this important task.

Who's with me?
I'll go!

I did wonder if the Buck 110 wouldn't be fancy enough.  I believe if it wasn't up to the standard he would have wanted he certainly would have had it customized.  See even TR is into modding.

C'mon.....stag scales? Brass bolsters?  Engraved?

How would T.R. have resisted that?

If it were available back then, I would not be surprised.   But keep in mind, George Washington, his entire life, carried no more than a tiny MOP scaled Sheffield-made penknife.  And I wouldn't be surprised to learn if TR had carried such a small, unassuming knife. The lock-back (and its predecessor) got started around the time of the Rough Riders, and many patterns could be had with it.

(Image removed from quote.)

Not ornate enough, but this is a good start.  Would have made a nice gift for his gun carrier or the dog handler.

Phew! back in 2019 again. It was a tough trip but worth it. I have no idea where Pabs and Nate are but it's their fault for stopping for doughnuts at the general store.

Here I present concrete proof of Teddy Roosevelts pocket knife choice:
