LM Style CS mod

I got a LM Style CS today, to see how it's put together and comes apart....    as I want to one day have the Squirt/Style pliers and Micra/Squirt/Style scissors in one tool, but am not sure how to do it yet.   

Anyway, first thing I noticed about the Style (after seeing that it has screwed pivots at the main scissor part, which makes life easier  ) is that the knife slot is wider than the blade and LM have used a large washer to hold the blade in place.

After a bit of heat to soften up the glue on the pivot screw, two Torx 6 screwdrivers for each end, the screw comes out easily.



That washer is thick ... Looks like enough room to fit another blade or tool.







Yep, Squirt large screwdriver/beer opener fits, but makes getting the knife blade out trickier as the nail nick is obstructed.

So now I go (semi-) bladeless, and use the package opener from the NexTool TaoTool (I've already used this package opener in a Juice, so the hole has been opened up to the right size and the tang ground down to fit the Juice, which is very similar to the Squirt/Style in size.)




Nice how the nail nick is clear of the smaller tool.  The package opener blade is a little thick, so the pivot only passes partway through  the Squirt screwdriver/cap lifter.  I might use a longer pivot.  But for now this was a really easy and quick mod to make, because the pivot has screws!

You'll want to go with a couple Style or Squirt or one of each, the micra wont play nice.
If possible hunt out a Squirt with screw pivots.
There are multiple ways to configure the setup, easy enough to pick one that works for you.

I already have a Squirt PS taken apart, so have the Squirt handles and pliers.  Plus this Style.  Looks enough parts for your mod?

I was thinking: another Style, grind off the side tools part. and place side by side --- using a long pivot through one plier and scissors part, and letting each other handle open.  This would be stacking 2 Styles, rather than joining at the ends.

I now actually like the Style CS as it is, with the package opener.  I figure this may go in any pocket and be on hand easily for the home/office/urban uses (package opening, letter opening, basic scissors use).  I may not want to merge it with pliers, and just settle to carry a Squirt PS separately.

I'm still tempted to make a pliers/scissors tool myself.  But the Style on its own has a nice feel --- small, slim, narrow.  I was in our local Victorinox shop at weekend and was looking at an alox  Minichamp, because I had an urge to get one, but the Style has kind of satisfied my urges (for now).

I was thinking of stacking two units side-by side, with long pivots (join two together) to hold it together --- but then I basically have two joined up tools and I could easily just as well carry both separately.  Need to think some more about this...
