Show us your necklace knife carry

I just started wearing small knives with a necklace
It started with the Spyderco Bug then I got the
Opinel no2 knife and today I got the SOG Centi 1
I use them with a stainless steel necklace
And I used the handcuffs off a stainless steel bracelet
So I can remove the knives from the necklace

Where do you wear this necklace?

I have a CRKT Minimalist that I did wear when doing outdoorsy type stuff. I no longer use it for that. I just didn't get along with it in that carry mode. I do like it in a small pack cause its a super little fixed blade.

I have wore a 4/7s P0 stainless steel and ATOM A0 Ti on a ball chain with a Minichamp or Wenger Pocket Tool Chest. I actually quite like the set ups. I like the red led on the ATOM A0. It makes nice low light light

I carry the necklace around my neck but with only one knife

Any of the knives pictured would be a good choice. Adding in a small light is nice. Its got to be lightweight tho. A button light would do the trick big time. I like to wear the ATOM A0 when going to dinner. Sometime the "mood" lighting isnt enough to see the dang menu

. The Red led isn't obnoxious and I dont have to fuss with moonlight mode from my primary light. Plus red is pretty soft in most any setting. The PTC didn't make my keychain carry so I wanted to find a role. Its a great SAK and in neck carry mode its found a purpose.

My companion carries a Mora Eldris when camping. She really like the size and especially the lightweight. Its just enough knife for her and when she wants a little more knife she has her Mora Companion. She a Mora girl big time.

I need to put a more colorful lanyard on it. She wanted black cause it matched the leather on the sheath.

I love the idea of neck carry for a small FB. I have a couple of small FBs I have tried in this role, including a ESEE Izula, Buck/TOPS CSAR Liason, and Kabar Becker Remora.

I prefer stainless ball chain for this application, as it is durable, easy to clean, inexpensive, and readily available in several different sizes. Also, it is plenty strong enough to suspend even a large knife, but will break before you could accidentally hang or choke yourself with it.

Ultimately, though, I've come to the conclusions that:

I really don't like wearing any type of necklace.
Neck carry outside the shirt is more comfortable and convenient to access, but not always socially acceptable. Neck carry inside the shirt is more socially acceptable (the knife doesn't show and many people wear necklaces), but less comfortable, and slow and inconvenient to access.

Good points. Having a neck knife is great and a SS ball chain is a safe way to do so. I don't always like when leaning over having the knife dancing about and bonking everything. Within the shirt I then have to reach under or over to get to my knife, also not so good. With my set ups I can wear a T shirt with pocket and place the items into it still suspended from the ball chain. Same goes with button type shirt and outer pocket. No one is the wiser as it can be most anything from ID card to dog tags to vape device.

I only have two. The first one was custom made for me by Jim Turecek of Derby CT about 30 years ago and is a miniature fighter with stag handles and a stag sheath.There is a small button release under the knife.The second is by United Cutlery and is worn as a push dagger but when out of the sheath can be swiveled 90 degrees to convert into a standard knife.

I've carried Classics in the past, and the Eldris seems ideal. Now that I've the Bug, it seems to be the ideal size for a necklace. I'm a big Opinel fan, but have yet to pick up a No. 2.

I've shown all these before, so I hope this isn't too repetative. Also, please fogive quality of pics in artificial light

I have a neck lanyard array, which I use most often in summer when pockets are limited, but have worn it throughout the year. On there at the top is a True Utility Eyeglass, which has a better field of view than a Wenger or Victorinox mag glass. Lower down is an alox Rambler, a AAA light (Klarus MiX6 Ti), a True Utility Telepen which expands to a very usable size, a pair of Uncle Bills Silver Grippers, and a small titanium whistle.

The only other knives that I keep on lanyards permanently, are an Outdoor Edge Wedge, and a Silverleaf friction folder. I've included a Vic Classic in the pics for size perspective.

I do have others that I have used as neck knives occasionally, which I'll show in my next post...

The other knives I have occasionally worn around the neck, are a CRKT RSK Mk5, a CRKT Folts Minimalist, and Buck Hartsook. I also have a Brusletto puukko style knife with a hammer forged finish, in a sheath which has lost its belt loop, and I have either fashioned a belt loop frog, or a neck lanyard frog, from paracord as required. Again, Classic shown for scale.

I'm not usually one for neck carry but i did try it a couple of times with the Eldris without any issues, easy to forget its even there, i'm not sure i would like it in tshirt weather but certainly under a shirt is fine

There's another knife I could carry around the neck, but haven't settled on a preferred carry method yet. A Millenium edition Joseph Rodgers knife, which has a non-locking blades, and driver/opener combo tool with backlock.

Another idea that sprang to mind, is a simple pouch, which would allow you to carry a wide variety of small blades (ignore the workman ship on these, they're just prototypes). Ideally you'd want something machine washable rather than leather, if being worn next to the body.

In the same pic, attached to the light and tweezers, is an AG Russell Ultimate Penknife. This version is made in Japan with VG10 blade, and titanium handles. I think they did other variants too, and I don't know if they have a current option, or where/how it's made. Spyderco Bug included along with the Classic for scale.

The SOG Snarl does make a nice little belt knife as opposed to a neck knife. Mine was a PITA to get sharp. Such a thick little bugger.

nice to see the Minimalists are well liked here!

I had all but the kermin and the new coated model,
they are very nice and a real "neck knife" due to low weight and low profile

the only thinner, lighter, flatter neck knife I've had and that I prefer is the Spyderco ARK, I'd have gotten the SE version but first release was only plain edge

bigger knives intended for neck carry (like these Cold Steel Spikes) I prefer to carry on my belt or pocket

finally, for under $5 you can't go wrong with these black coated PitBulls or holed blade-tanto Smith and Wesson
