Day 17

So far the Explorer hasn’t really been needed, so I used it to open an ice cream bar just because I could.

Day: 17

A quiet, dreary day here. A bit of rain. Cool enough that I wore a light sweater much of the day. I stayed inside and sulked, reading about other people's adventures. No uses for the Explorer.  I think it's time for more doing, less reading......

Day 17:

Used the scissors to cut fingernails, awl to scrape paint out of a screw and drill a pilot hole for it, and mag lens to realize an old farmer's file I had was toast (so it will end up being material for making knives) due to rusting (I found it in a pile of old tools at a place we used to lease; most cleaned up, but pretty much all the files were toast; but one huge Nicholson is going to be a knife). Hook was used to zip up drill bag. I also used the hook to hold the pen so I could mark a fence post (had them disappear as of late).

Nice looking herd Cody!  I agree Jack.  I've been busy with just keeping afloat.  It's time for adventure!  After all, the Explorer is the Indiana Jones of SAKs!

Reading your post makes me feel lazy, but some really great use of the Explorer.

I used my Explorer to R and R the slicer blade to give it a good cleaning after slicing some tri-tip.

Day 17: Speaking of shortwave and exploring, I grew up playing on the short wave band.  I've had this Grundig G5 for about 15 years and have a lot of fun with it.

Meat slicer always scared me.  I’ve seen a few cut themselves pretty good on them.

Day 18: Used the hook!  I'm a big fan of the lowly hook.  I've used it to carry plastic grocery bags, lace boots, and pull these pesky pull tabs.  My wife used my Climber's hook to crochet one evening!
I then used the Philips Head to remove the side panel on our pellet stove so I could clean it.  As much as I don't really want to think about it, cooler weather isn't really that far away.

Thanks Ray!  I like the 45 degree locking Philips.  It makes it easy to get into tight places like I dealt with there.

I have finally given up trying to slice bread with 91mm main blade. So Vic bread knife to the rescue today.

I reckon that the rounded blade on the DofE Compact would be better for butter and spreads but today the Explorers main blade is on it. I'm never sure about Vegemite but I keep buying the stuff on the basis that I love Marmite so I must love Vegemite right? I should do a survey ....

Cut some garden twine with the scissors and used the awl to make a wasp trap for a friend.
