Should I get a Rebar?
on: June 14, 2019, 02:59:29 AM
I need some help in convincing myself I need a Rebar.  I like the Rebar in that it is relatively lightweight and compact, meaning it's pocketable (at under 7 ounces, same weight as a SwissChamp; meaning it's not as bulky at 4" closed), unlike the Super Tool 300; which needs a belt sheath or a sturdy coat pocket to be carried. But, the tool selection virtually duplicates what is on the ST300, and I already have  1999 and 2017 Waves with basically the same tool set (except no awl), and not much heavier. And files, blades, and saws are all outside accessible.

And my favorite variant:

If you have a Wave, do you need a Rebar?

Probably not.

When you order one, don't forget a bit adapter.......

You picked a great color combo, Coyote Brown!
If you are going to get ONE, that would be the one.  Mine came from Cabala’s.

But, then I also have a SS and a BO version, oh yes, also a Heritage version (still in the package)

If you like your SuperTool 300 tool set, then you will luv the compactness of the Rebar. I carry mine in jean pocket or in a box sheath on the belt.

It disappears on the belt in the box sheath. The ST rides well in its version of the box sheath too.

You will not regret.

Sorry but I ain't going to help. My vote goes for the Signal which also comes in the coyote tan/black colours.

I would get one  :D

Yet I would go for the knifeless one. They are hard to come by though  :dunno:

That's number two on my list. One, I normally carry a knife (though I do like my MTs having them should I decide to carry just that one tool; which I often do with the Wave), two, with me looking for a job, the work environment might not allow blades, and in that case the Knifeless Rebar might come in handy.  And besides, I get scissors.

Rebar is just a smaller Supertool 300 so if you like it then you will live the Rebar

That's a terrible question to ask here.  :twak: of course u should get one! I wouldn't get that colour as a user though. While it looks stunning now, I am not sure how that brown will wear down. I am guessing cerakote? The paint might scratch off rather than fade off like how beautifully BO ages.

Another vote for the Rebar. It's packed with tools, great plier head, comfortable, and slim.
Also the Phillips fits the Ganzo bit adapter, and that comes with a ton of off-brand ones.

I removed the lanyard loop and large flat for the Wingman package opener and Wave scissors, and now it just rocks. :multi:

Another vote here to get one.

Though, asking that question on a forum where a lot of us have dozens or more MTs, is a bit like asking if bears poop in the woods most of the time. :multi:

On a serious note:
The Rebar is a must have for any MT enthusiast. It is a great tool and the reasons not to buy one are miniscule relative to the reasons to buy one. IMO.
Pontificating particularly pious positions pertaining to polymorphic paraphernalia. G-Man.

I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

You surely are in the right place for the therapy, when did MTO ever tell you not to get it?  >:D

Seriously, if you like ST300 and want something smaller, I too think Rebar is a very viable option.

Was there a question...?

Yes. Get a Rebar and use it like it stole your cookies.

Mine has worked great and is very reminiscent of the original, while laden with newer features like rolled edges for easier squeezing and replaceable wire cutters. Damn good tool - even if I did just break my flathead screw driver. But oh, what it took to break it!

On mine the color has stayed fast. The BO tools show some wear as any other BO tool.

The finish is much more hardy than the Orange finish on the Wave.

When I met Tim Leatherman back in 2016 he told me that the Rebar was his favorite tool of the current line up (he had a charge on his belt when he said this, but I guess he figured the Charge wasn't really a "new" tool anymore back then).

So ... If Tim Leatherman says this about the Rebar, do you think you need one ... ?  :pok:

Or in other words ...

Sure rebar is good to have. Forget LM bit adapter, if more drivers needed vic plus sheath and L driver is great.

HA! asking to get a good MT on MT.org...are you NUTZ?  :twak: :twak: you will never regret the Rebar, even if you immediately mod it or combine it into a Rave (with the wave)

Rave is in the bottom left corner.

Sorry but I ain't going to help. My vote goes for the Signal which also comes in the coyote tan/black colours.

This this, the Signal is a truly amazing multi-tool. The blade is a literal tank compared to the Rebar.

Yes, it gets used, not at all past 3 months do to challenges.
It is my favorite.  Yet I must admit, my first one was found to have the wrong tools, duplicate flat blade. Cabala’s handled the exchange because the original look almost new.

This one is about 18 months in my service. PE and pliers is most used at home, Phillips and SE at work.

No complaints about the finish.
