Anyone else have this tiny Gerber pocket knife?
on: June 24, 2019, 08:33:46 PM
I snagged this for a few bucks off of eBay. I was impressed with the tiny blade, it came extremely sharp. The tool looks lightly used, but both of the drivers very easily popped back into the handle, and did not stay in the locked position when any force was applied. I popped the plastic cover off the drivers, and then the front metal clip I also popped off. I removed both drivers and then used a dremel cutting wheel and a small file to reshape the lock part of the driver so that it would have more bite against the springs. And that worked 100%! The drivers can take a fair bit of force and I haven't had them close on me yet.

The drivers are micro sized, and really useful for electronics and small things. The scissors are Fiskars scissors, and though they don't lock open in any way they work just as well as the scissors in any mp400 or mp600. (In fact they appear to be identical except for the length of the arm). Overall I very much like this tool, and I'm going to have to find a keychain for it to live on!

Charles.

Me either. It's a little larger than a Wenger Esquire -- the keychain loop thingy makes it longer, otherwise it'd be the same dimensions. Obviously it's thicker. It's a good keychain tool once I fixed the problem with the collapsing drivers. I wish I know what it was called. Anyone?

Charles.

Gerber KeyStyle. :)

I posted the same model recently for information and zoidberg mentioned the model name. :)

Cool little tools, but not for any heavy use. Office type use at best from what I've read.

Nice one!  :like:

Really like those little knives. Just wish they were a bit more durable. They could have had a real winner if they had just modified the design a bit. :ahhh

Wow! That thing looks awesome! And it solved the “non locking” issue with some of the 58mm vics when it comes to the blades. How good are the scissors?

They are the typical Gerber(Fiskars) scissors found on most of their MTs with scissors. Just with a polished finish instead of satin. :)
