Question about Corn Classic - corn scale

I've seen two variations of this corn scale.  Does anyone know why these two differ?

Type 1 - Solid Yellow Scale on the front, corn on the back:




Type 2 - Corn on both sides of the scales:

You might not like my answer...but I'm guessing that the original front scale on yours was damaged and was just replaced by a regular yellow scale.  Seems like the most likely scenario to me.  Still a cool knife.

I think my guess was totally wrong. With multiple copies like yours, it should be an original configuration.

The logo is for Pioneer brand seed corn.  It makes sense that they've ordered several times/batches over the years. I think that's the more likely answer now. I would now guess that yours in the later, cheaper version to produce...again, just a guess.

They did have other knives like this...
