Florist knife.
on: August 02, 2019, 09:11:28 PM
I've been playing with one for a few months now, as a dirty deeds knife. Breaking down boxes, trimming shrubs, whatever. I have fallen in love with the chisel ground blade. Its ground down to a very nice thin edge that once it looses its fine razor edge, it still slices and dices very clean.

I wonder why Victorinox doesn't make more SAK's with this edge. It's soooo darn easy to sharpen and cuts soooo well. It's the first knife that Have fond that truly cuts like an Opinel.

Any other fans of the florist knife?

I have a Clauss, which was made by Camillus in the 1990s. I use it for carpentry. Makes precise cuts very easily; and its steel (440A; close to what Vic uses) is easy to sharpen.

I use one for peeling off scales from old SAKs.  I like it, simple and solid tool.

:iagree: I very recently acquired one while on Holidays and I Must agree that it cuts brilliantly, I am also a huge fan of its appearance, it looks so clean and stylish with the brass rivets and Vic logo and without a keyring or scale tools

I also like the florist and other Vic chisel ground knives.  Can someone explain  how to sharpen these blades?

When I restored mine from a broken tip etc. I've put a normal edge on each side and it works great for me  :salute:

Lovely solid knifes  :tu:

The same as you would sharpen any other knife, except that you only sharpen the one side.  It may be necessary to carefully de-burr the other (flat) side.
