what interest to have such a solid clamp if you can not apply force because it is held with your fingertips ...

 :like:      I did the same with my Surge and a Wave I had that both had handles splayed too wide. Makes for a much more comfortable grip. I took some off of the pliers as well as the frame. I used a hand file on mine.

Yeah me too did it a while back. But I took off material from the pliers and not the frame though.. That part of the frame is the weakest on the wave/surge design. I avoid touching that area..  The original handle splay of the new surge is ridiculous..
